Jan. 27 HR 21. The Strategic Oil Production Reserve Act, limiting withdrawals from the strategic oil reserve in relation to the acres of federal land included in the reserve and to prevent the sale of any U.S. oil to North Korea, Iran, China, the Russian Federation or any foreign government subject to U.S. sanctions. Energy Secretary Jennifer Grandholm said Monday that President Biden would veto HR 21 if it comes to his desk. Passed 221-205.

Jan 18 SB 84. A bipartisan bill to protect freedom of religious expression for school teachers and employees by amending the Public School Code of 1949 by repealing Section 1112. That section prohibits a teacher from wearing any garb, emblem or insignia that would identify with a religious order or sect while teaching. Under that law, a teacher was suspended from her job for wearing a small cross on a necklace. The bipartisan bill passed last Wednesday was sponsored by Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill, R, York, and Sen. Judith L. Schwank, D, 11. The bill passed 49-0.

Jan 18 SB 95. Sponsored by Sen. Wayne Langerholc R, Dist. 11. Amends Pennsylvania Consolidate Statutes regarding registration of vehicles and particularly the use of farm vehicles, to streamline delivery of agricultural products. Passed 49-0.
Jan. 18 SB114. Sponsored by Sen. Michelle Brooks, R, Dist. 50, modifies the Public School Code of 1949 to establish the Secondary Education Pilot Fire Training Program. Measure passed 49-0.

Jan. 18 SB 141. Sponsored by James Mastroianno, R, to provide for the ability to recognize citizens of a friendly foreign nation by allowing them to be awarded the Pennsylvania Distinguished Service Medal and the Pennsylvania Meritorious Service medal. Current statute allows only US forces and members of Pennsylvania National Guard to receive those medals. Measure passed 49-0.

Both House and Senate are now in recess till Feb 27.
