Nun from “Late Night Catechism” returns for Christmas show

Posted
“Sister’s Christmas Catechism” opens Dec. 5, at Delaware Valley University, starring Denise Fennell, who played the nun in “Late Nite Catechism” at the Bucks County Center for The Performing Arts last summer.

Fennell brings people from the audience to the stage. She developed her audience participation skills playing Tina in ‘Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding.”

Howard Perloff, artistic director, produced “Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding” for 27 years. He heard about Fennell playing Tina and saw her in “Late Nite Catechism.” Perloff said he would only do the show if he could get Fennell to play the part.

Broadway World’s, Taylor Moodie says “Fennell is a gifted comedienne and dives head-first into the role of Sister, a down to earth nun who teaches her class with comedic candor and unexpected quips. Fennel is easy to hear, even amidst the continuous laughter from the audience, and it is surely continuous. Fennell has a warm stage presence and manner, and she embraces the audience in her skillful performance.”

The show opens Dec. 5, with performances at 2 and 8 p.m.; it continues with a show at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 and shows at 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.

Tickets are $42.50 for matinees and $49.50 for evening performances, at 215-297-8540 or visit buckscountycpa.org.
