Noteworthy Business Briefs for May 4

C&N (Citizens & Northern Corporation, NASDAQ: CZNC) announced that Thomas Howley has been promoted to Vice President and Commercial Lending Relationship Manager II based in Doylestown.

Howley has been with C&N since 2020, joining through the Covenant Bank acquisition. Prior to joining C&N, he held various credit positions at Covenant Bank and Team Capital Bank.

Howley graduated with Honors from Saint Joseph’s University where he earned a B.A. in Business Administration with a major in Finance and a minor in Italian. He is also a graduate of the Risk Management Association Commercial Lending School (Mastery Exams) and the Accredited Banking Professional Program (The Emmerich Group).

Newtown Business Association hosts its Emerging Leaders May Workshop from 5 to 7 p.m. today, at Thrive, An Acton Academy.

THRiVE’s Annual Children’s Business Fair will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at 207 Penns Trail, Newtown.

The event offers an opportunity for children to launch their very own startup business. Children develop a brand, create a product or service, build a marketing strategy, and then open for customers at the one-day marketplace.

There will be 40 booths at the fifth annual fair, with an award ceremony following.

The event is sponsored by THRiVE, An Acton Academy, the Acton School of Business, and the support of donors and volunteers. “We all believe that entrepreneurial skills will be key for success moving forward and would like to create opportunities for our kids to begin putting these ideas into practice,” the website states.

Wee Speak, pediatric speech therapy, hosts an open house at its new, larger office at 708 N. Shady Retreat Road, Suite 8, Doylestown, from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The community is invited to visit the office and meet the expanding staff, which now includes Occupational Therapists.

There will be games set up for the kids, and free ice cream and pretzels from the Salt Box. Grab a voucher from Wee Speak and visit the ice cream truck.

Newtown Business Association hosts its May Business Card Exchange from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, hosted and sponsored by Jackie McGonigal of Newtown Icehouse. Register at www.newtownba.org.
