The Stover Mill Gallery welcomes artist, author and filmmaker, Susan W. Dryfoos of Bucks County and New York City for the month of October with her show, “The Accidental Forger and Other Stories: A Life in Art.”
The exhibit is based on her imagination and it celebrates many mediums, illustrates and relates stories from her diaries and reflects on the wonders of life.
“Since I was just a little girl I kept a journal,” said the artist. “I wrote about all the ups and downs of my life: I questioned who was I supposed to be, what mattered most. I poured out my heart every time I fell in love – and out of love. When I was lonely the magic of imagination came to the rescue. When I’d get into trouble, when people I loved died, I turned to my diary to sort it all out. And I’d use the colors of paints to find the answers.”
Dryfoos’s films have won critical acclaim and many awards. Her documentary, “The Line King: The Al Hirschfeld Story,” which was screened nationwide (including at the County Theater in Doylestown) was nominated for an Academy Award. Dryfoos’s book about her grandmother, “Iphigene: The Memoirs of Iphigene Ochs Sulzberger,” was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
