Norma Lucille Jones

Norma Lucille Jones, a longtime Buxmont resident, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021 at Neshaminy Manor Nursing Home at the age of 98 from natural causes.
She was the youngest daughter of Ruth and Roland Morris of Newfoundland, Canada. Her childhood was split between St. John’s, Newfoundland, and Toronto, Canada. As an adult, she went back to St. John’s and worked at the university there. During World War II she met her husband to be, Edmund Jones, who was an American Army soldier stationed in St. John’s. Eventually married and moved to Pennsylvania where she became a naturalized citizen. They lived in Roxborough with family while building a home in Richboro together. There they had their son Stephen and daughter Sharon.
After 26 years they divorced and she moved to Warminster and finally to Hatboro. She had also been working for about 36 years at Holy Redeemer Hospital as a medical transcriptionist. After retirement she held jobs as Seniors Helping Seniors, Star Bus Tour Guide, and numerous volunteer activities.
She was a very physically active woman in her retirement and was very passionate and competitive about everything she was involved with. In her youth she was on the Canadian Ski Patrol. Her interest in skiing continued well into her 80s. Other interest she enjoyed were golfing, Phila. Trail Club, swimming, skating, fishing, billiards, cards and painting among other activities.
She competed in the Montco Senior Games in her sixties, seventies and early eighties where she earned many medals and awards. She was also a participant in the Ms. Senior America Pageant and won Ms. Senior Pennsylvania in 1998. That same year she went on to compete in the National Pageant in Biloxi Mississippi.
Mom had busy full life and lots of tenacity and strength. She was the youngest of seven siblings and the last one to pass. She is survived by her son, Stephen Thomas Jones, and daughter, Sharon Lucille Crawford and her husband Bruce; three grandsons Brian and his wife Christine, Lee and his wife Stephanie, Kevin and his wife Maureen; and four great-grandsons, Gavin, Jacob, Kade and Easton.
