Newtown Theatre to screen “The Race to Alaska”

Posted

The historic Newtown Theatre will screen “The Race to Alaska” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2.

This documentary follows sailors as they compete in a 750-mile boat race through the wilderness of Alaska’s Inside Passage.

The race has been described as “the Iditarod, on a boat, with a chance of drowning or being eaten by a grizzly bear.” Participants have no motors and no support.

Through aerials, interviews, and racer-shot footage, “The Race to Alaska” tells the story of the race’s inception and the journey of the men and women who participate.

Tickets for this special one-night-only screening are available at TheNewtownTheatre.com for $12 per person or $10 for theater members. Any remaining tickets will be sold for $15 at the door on the night of the movie.

The Newtown Theatre is located at 120 N. State St., Newtown Borough.
