Newtown Theatre, ArtWRKD team up for “A Curious Newtown Evening”

Posted

The Newtown Theatre and ArtWRKD are teaming up to present “A Curious Newtown Evening” on Friday, March 24.

The event will feature “acts of a curious nature” at the theater, plus drinks, artwork, oddities and music.

The night starts between 5 and 7 p.m. at ArtWRKD art consortium, located at 126-128 S. State St. in Newtown. There, guests can enjoy drinks and ArtWRKD’s current show, “The Wonder Room,” featuring the work of 10 different artists.

Guests can also peruse a unique collection of oddities and curiosities imported from New York’s Museum of Interesting Things. Ticket-holders can come and go anytime between 5 and 7 p.m. and are encouraged to have dinner and drinks in town before dropping by ArtWRKD.

Starting at 7 p.m., the historic Newtown Theatre, 120 N. State St. in Newtown, will open its doors for a show that will begin at 8 p.m. The show will feature a number of “curious acts” of a sideshow nature, including a strong woman, a contortionist, Shreevash the magician, a belly dancer, and a fire eater. The soundtrack for the show will be provided by Drew Nugent & The Midnight Society, a band that performed at the theater’s burlesque show last November.

Tickets for this event are available at TheNewtownTheatre.com. Beer, wine, and canned cocktails will be available for purchase at the theater before and during the show.
