NewsMatch awards challenge grant to Herald Foundation

Posted

In recognition of its nonprofit local news reporting, the Bucks County Herald has been selected to receive a NewsMatch grant of up to $27,000 towards its year-end giving campaign. This means that reader donations received by the nonprofit Bucks County Herald Foundation between now and Dec. 31 will be matched dollar for dollar.

“We hope this exciting opportunity for our readers to have their gifts doubled by NewsMatch will inspire many year-end donations. Donations fund the work of our dedicated local journalists, and every dollar counts,” said Bridget Wingert, president of the Bucks County Herald Foundation.

This is the third year in a row that the Bucks County Herald Foundation, a community-supported nonprofit news organization, has been selected to receive a coveted NewsMatch grant. The funds are made possible by the Loud Hound Partner Fund, a San Francisco-based family foundation that supports local journalism around the country.

“The serious economic challenges that lie ahead of us make our year-end giving campaign vitally important to the health of our newsroom. Trusted news reporting is needed more than ever, and we want to continue to thrive,” said Wingert.

Donations can be made online at buckscountyheraldfoundation.org, by phone at 215-794-1096, or mailed, payable to the Bucks County Herald Foundation, to 875 N. Easton Road, Suite 1, Doylestown, PA 18902.

In order for the Herald Foundation to receive the dollar-for-dollar match, donations must be postmarked by Dec. 31.
