On Veterans Day, the New Hope-Solebury High School Social Studies Department honored local veterans and made sure that their students were aware of the sacrifices military men and women have made to provide freedom to the country.
The morning began with some local veterans speaking to social studies classes about their personal stories of when they were in service. The Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf, the War in Iraq and the Afghanistan Wars were represented.
Afterwards, all local veterans were invited to a luncheon in which the food was provided by teachers of the New Hope-Solebury Middle and High School. The luncheon included a welcoming message by Superintendent Dr. Chuck Lenz, a visit from Tom Bateman’s choir students who sang The Star-Spangled Banner and a visit from New Hope-Solebury Girl Scout troops who treated the veterans to songs and treats.
