New Hope may fill council vacancy Sept. 19

New Hope Borough Council will this week accept letters of interest and/or resumes from residents who’d like to be appointed to fill the vacancy created by the death of Councilwoman Laurie McHugh.

Interested parties have until Friday to apply, said borough manager Peter Gray, who added council will consider selecting a candidate on Sept. 19.

McHugh, the vice president of the borough council, was killed Aug. 21 in a motor vehicle accident on Durham Road in Buckingham.

Interested candidates should view this as a temporary appointment that will last until Dec. 31.

Letters of interest and/or resumes will be accepted no later than 4:30 p.m. Friday. They are to be submitted via email to Peter Gray at
