New Hope artist Lisa Rosen Orrell creates wearable art for heroes

Posted

In January, New Hope artist Lisa Rosen Orrell’s artwork was part of a juried exhibition at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia’s Old City.

The “We Can Be Heroes” exhibition honored David Bowie and celebrated a diverse group of Philadelphia heroes, including health care workers, medical researchers, nurses and doctors. At the time, Orrell had no idea that she would soon be creating a different kind of art for those heroic essential workers.

This month, her fabric collage, handmade art masks are being delivered to nurses in Philadelphia fighting COVID-19, bringing a bit of color and beauty, and a reminder of the community’s appreciation, to the essential workers.
