Nancy Pond Brown

Nancy Pond Brown a longtime resident of Doylestown, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 at home with her beloved husband. She was 83 and the wife of 62 years to Lloyd Eugene Brown.

Born in Queens, New York, she was the daughter of the late Frank Nelson Pond and Catherine Closson Pond.

Nancy attended Stevens College in Missouri before receiving her B.A. in Child Development and Family Living from Syracuse University in New York.

Nancy and her family moved to Doylestown in 1968, where she quickly got involved in her community. From Volunteering as a counselor at the old Bucks County Prison to chairing the Architectural Review Board, she was always looking to help others as well as preserve or improve the buildings and land in the Bucks County area.

She was a member of AAUW (American Association of University Women) and a participant in book clubs and Mah Jongg nights. She was also a member of the Bucks County Historical Society, the Heritage Conservatory and other organizations.

She was also a big supporter of the Arts. Nancy was a donor and organizer of events for the Bucks County Opera Association, the Bucks County Symphony Society and the Doylestown Chamber Group.

Nancy was a lover of books and newspapers and liked to research anything new to her.

She was loved and revered by many and will be truly missed.

In addition to her husband, Nancy is survived by her three daughters: Tracey Ketterer (Andy), Jennifer Lucas, Stephanie Ungerer (George); her grandchildren: Nicholas Ketterer (Madeline), Audrey Pianko (Chris), Jessica Foster (Stephan), Caroline Lucas (Kevin Metz), Buddy Ungerer, Josephine Ungerer; her three great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; her brother: Clayton Pond (Marjorie), her son-in-law: John Lucas (Kathleen) as well as her brother-in-law: Phil Mallon.

Nancy was preceeded in death by her son: Douglas Brown; her sister: Eileen Mallon and other close friends and relatives.

Relatives and friends are invited to her celebration of life 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where the family will greet guests after 12 p.m. prior to the service.
