Multiple St. Luke’s hospitals earn Leapfrog Top Hospital honors

Posted

Several St. Luke’s University Health Network (SLUHN) hospitals have been named to the Top Hospital list announced by Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit hospital safety watchdog.

They are: St. Luke’s Anderson Campus - Bethlehem Campus (Top Teaching) St. Luke’s Allentown Campus (Top Teaching) St. Luke’s Warren Campus (Top Teaching).

The Anderson and Allentown campuses were two of only three hospitals in Pennsylvania to earn the Top Teaching Hospital designation. The Warren Campus was one of five in New Jersey.

In addition, the St Luke’s Endoscopy Center in Buxmont was the only ambulatory surgical center (ASC) in Pennsylvania to be named a Top ASC. The center specializes in gastrointestinal procedures such as colonoscopy. Nationwide, only 12 ASCs earned the Top ASC designation.

Leapfrog’s Top Hospital and ASC recognitions are based entirely on an independent, scientific review of objective data.

Leapfrog’s Top Hospital award recognizes the highest performing hospitals across many areas of hospital care, including infection rates, maternity care and the hospital’s capacity to prevent medication errors. Over 2,200 hospitals were considered for the award. A total of 115 top hospitals nationwide were selected as Top Hospitals, including 12 top children’s 32 Top General, 13 Top Rural and 58 Top Teaching.
