Morrisville School District to appoint new superintendent; host community forum

Posted

The School District of Borough of Morrisville’s Board of School Directors is scheduled to formalize an employment agreement with Dr. Andrew J. Doster to serve as the district’s next Superintendent of Schools at its meeting on Wednesday, April 24.

The school board began its search process in January, engaging with the Bucks County Intermediate Unit to serve as its search consultant. Twenty candidates applied for the position.

The school board invites all community members to attend a Community Forum with Dr. Doster at 6 p.m. Monday, April 29, in the Middle/High School auditorium, located at 550 W. Palmer Ave., Morrisville. Student performances will kick-off the forum.

Community members are invited to submit up to two questions for consideration through the following survey: https://bciu.formstack.com/forms/morrisvillecommunityforum. Questions may be submitted up until 11:59 p.m. Thursday, April 25.

The format for the evening does not provide an opportunity for questions or comments from the audience during the forum itself.

The community forum will be recorded and made available online. The link to view the event recording will be made available through the school district’s website at https://www.mv.org/.

Since 2007, Dr. Doster has served as a public-school administrator, most recently as the Director of Elementary Education, for the Easton Area School District in Northampton County. He also served in multiple other capacities at Easton including, but not limited to, supervision of administration, professional development design and implementation, curriculum revision, and program selection.

Prior to his time in Easton, Dr. Doster served as a principal across a variety of grade levels in three other Pennsylvania school districts. Previous to his administrative career, Dr. Doster was a sixth-grade teacher for all content areas and an eighth-grade reading teacher.

Damon Miller, president of the Borough of Morrisville Board of School Directors, described Dr. Doster as “a leader that fits the needs of the Morrisville community putting students first while engaging the community as a whole.” He offered that Dr. Doster’s understanding of the elementary, middle, high school, and central office environment “strengthens his ability to understand effective learning environments, as well as the unique needs of the Morrisville School District from a K-12 perspective.”

Dr. Doster said in part, “I have always been committed to creating safe, dynamic learning environments where everyone may be successful. I am looking forward to bringing that mindset to the role of lead learner, as I look to support our students, families, faculty, staff, and administration in continuing to create great experiences at Morrisville.

“People and relationships come first. Therefore, I am looking forward to meeting and connecting with everyone as I begin our time together.”
