Ecoremedy LLC, a supplier of resource recovery systems, has made an agreement with the Morrisville Municipal Authority (MMA) in Bucks County for a biosolids disposal renewable energy system.
MMA’s regional wastewater treatment facility, which serves customers in Morrisville, Yardley and portions of Lower Makefield and Falls townships, processes about 5,000 wet tons of residual organic biosolids every year.
The biosolids are hauled to a nearby landfill for disposal.
As part of the design for a new wastewater treatment facility that will replace the aging facility on Riverview Avenue (Route 32), the authority identified Ecoremedy’s Fluid Lift Gasification process as a solution for long-term sustainability.
The company’s technology converts biosolids and other waste organics into syngas, a 100 percent renewable source of thermal energy that replaces natural gas. Unlike other processes, Ecoremedy recovers all available energy in the biosolids.
Design and construction of the Morrisville Demonstration Project is already under way. The facility is expected to go online in mid-2019.
Once completed, Ecoremedy and the Morrisville Municipal Authority have additional plans to use the facility for research and development.
