Monetary donations needed to help Stuff the Bus

Posted

For the past year and a half, many children attended school online. For most, it was a deeply challenging and uncertain time. These same children are headed back to school this fall, but happily to real bricks and mortar schools.
“We hope it will be a happy occasion for them,” said Beth Mann, a Doylestown resident who is working with Salem Church and United Way’s Stuff the Bus program to help provide school supplies to children in need. “When families are struggling to pay rent and put food on the table, school supplies are often out of reach,” says Mann. “We hope the community will step up and help Stuff the Bus. I know we can give all of our children the tools – and confidence – they need to get back to school, and excel.”

Individuals can help United Way buy supplies for school children by making a monetary donation in Bucks County through Aug. 8. “We do not collect items anymore,” said Mann. “United Way can stretch each dollar donated by buying in bulk.”
Checks can be mailed to Salem Church, 186 E. Court St., Doylestown, Pa. 18901 (make the check out to Salem Church, clearly marking in the memo line, Stuff the Bus). Supporters can also donate online at salemstrong.org by clicking the ‘Give, Donate’ button. From the drop-down menu, choose the “Social Action” option.
