Monarch Bon Voyage Party at Churchville Nature Center

Posted

It's again time for the Monarch butterfly to begin its amazing migration south. To celebrate this journey, and assist in the conservation of our fluttery friends, we will hold our annual tag and release party on Sun. Sept. 19! There will be two release times. First tagging event and party will begin at 10:00am and butterflies will be released at 12:00pm. The second tagging event and party will begin at 1:00pm and releasing of these butterflies will be at 3:00pm. You must register to tag a butterfly as supplies are limited. Select a time slot:
10:00am - 12:00pm or 1:00pm - 3:00pm.
The event will include a final tour of the butterfly house for the season, a talk about the monarch butterfly and why tagging is important. We will have cake to celebrate, along with games and a demonstration/sampling of our native pawpaw fruits.

•The event is $5.00 if you're not a Churchville Nature Center member/ FREE for CNC members. However, there is a $5 charge to tag a butterfly whether a member or not. Each of our monarchs is raised in our butterfly house from local monarchs to help boost wild populations so we hope to release several hundred individuals.
•We have a 100 tag limit so if you want to be guaranteed a butterfly, please register in advance!
