Michael G. Rein

Michael G. Rein, of Lambertville, N.J., died on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, N.J. He was 64 years old.

Born in Trenton, N.J., Michael was a longtime resident of Lambertville. He was the supervisor of maintenance, building and grounds for Har Sinai Temple in Hopewell. For 38 years Michael worked for the congregation first in its Trenton location and more recently in Hopewell. The congregation honored Michael’s dedicated service in a special ceremony on the occasion of his 30th anniversary at the temple. Through his work Michael volunteered at the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) and the Jewish Community Outreach.

A man of many interests, Michael was a gifted gardener, tending to his grounds at home and at the temple. He was a Yankees fan, loved all kinds of music, attending concerts at many venues including Madison Square Garden and the Camden Waterfront. Michael enjoyed travel and made many long distance road trips in his camper. He also regularly visited his nephew in Hawaii. At the time of his passing Michael, with his fiancée, Maryellen Stankovich of Lambertville, was building their retirement home in Greentown, Pa.

In addition to his fiancée, Michael is survived by his son John P. Goccia of Lambertville; his daughter Rosemarie Grant and her husband Robert of Gearing, Neb.; his grandchildren Dakota Michael Grant and Theresa Marie Grant; his brothers Joseph Rein of Camden, N.J., and James Rein of Trenton; his foster siblings the Smith family and his nephew Peter Martino of Hawaii. Michael is also survived by his many friends and associates.

Michael was predeceased by his devoted wife, the late Marie Martino Rein, his parents George and Joan Rein, his foster parents Joel and Joanne Smith and his brothers George Rein and Kevin Bright .

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York St., Lambertville, NJ 08530.

Interment will follow at the Mt Hope Cemetery, S. Franklin St., Lambertville, N.J.

There will be calling hours at the funeral home on Thursday evening, March 9, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday morning from 9 a.m. until 9:45 prior to services.
