Memorial Day ceremonies slated in Richboro

There will be two Memorial Day ceremonies that will take place in the Richboro section of Northampton Township on May 27.

At 8 a.m. there will be a flag lowering/raising ceremony by the Patriot Detachment #1230 Marine Corps League at the Veterans Memorial in front of the seven flag poles of the Northampton Township building, located at 55 Township Road, Richboro. Along with the pole hoisting the U.S, flag there are six other flag poles each hoisting a flag of the branch of the military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Space Force). After the flag raising there will be an unveiling of two plaques that have been installed at the Veterans Memorial Walkway.

This ceremony will only last 10-15 minutes.

At 9 a.m. there will be the annual 45-minute special ceremony at the Robert H. Dembowski, Jr. Veterans Memorial Park located at Routes 232 and 332, Richboro. Included in this ceremony will be a wreath laying by family representatives of two Northampton soldiers who were killed in action, Army Pfc. Bobby Dembowski Jr. and Army Master Sgt. Ken Elwell.

As part of the program there will also be a POW/MIA/KIA Remembrance Ceremony during the event. Special guest speaker will be resident and Marine Corps veteran John Heenan.
