McCaffrey’s opens today in New Hope

McCaffrey’s Food Markets is opening its newest market with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9.

The New Hope location in the former Staples store is home to the fifth McCaffrey’s Food Market in Pennsylvania, and the seventh market overall. Special sales and tastings are planned

And in step with today’s environmental awareness, there’s a new twist: No single-use, plastic bags or straws will be available in the store.

New Hope has had a succession of food markets for many years, beginning with the DelRay Thriftway when the shopping center was built. A Super Fresh Market moved into that store after it closed. Since November 2015, when the Super Fresh closed, New Hope and its surrounding areas of Solebury, Buckingham and Upper Makefield and Lambertville, N.J., have had one super market – the Giant Food Store in the Logan Square Shopping Center.

The store’s regular hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

The state-of-the-art food market is staffed by food experts and exceptional produce, meat, seafood, cheese, deli, bakery and floral, along with chef-inspired, gourmet prepared foods. Some highlights of the store include: a gourmet sandwich station, cheeses from around the globe, custom cakes, Java Jim’s coffee bar, a beer garden with hundreds of craft beers, indoor seating area and organic, local and exotic product offerings.

Store manager Lou Campo is the former manager of McCaffrey’s Princeton market.

“We cannot express how thrilled we are to be opening our newest market in New Hope,” said Jim McCaffrey, president. “We are looking forward to serving and immersing ourselves in this diverse and prominent town.”

The first McCaffrey’s opened in Yardley in 1986. Today there are stores in Blue Bell, Doylestown, Princeton, N.J. and West Windsor, N.J.
