Mary E. Bretz

Mary (“Mimi”) Elizabeth Bretz (nee Oberman) passed peacefully under hospice care in Ojai, Calif., on Oct. 18, 2021, at the age of 76. She was a longtime resident of Holicong, Pennsylvania.
She graduated from Camp Hill High School (Pa.) in 1963; Hollins College (Va.) in l967 after spending year at the Sorbonne in Paris, France; and Temple University Law School (Pa.) in l976. She clerked for Pennsylvania Supreme Court President Judge, Robert N.C. Nix, and worked as a litigator for Morgan, Lewis and Bockius of Philadelphia for several years. She received recognition as one of the noted Outstanding Young Women of America in 1979. She sustained a severe brain injury in 1980, which she handled with perseverance and grace.
She is survived by Jeffrey, her husband for over 50 years; two daughters, Melissa and Elizabeth, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; a son Matthew of Carlsbad, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Avery and Jack. She was predeceased by her parents Jay and Marybelle (nee Fox) Oberman of Camp Hill, Pa., and her brother Edward of Purcellville, Va.
Mary was one of he smartest, sweetest, smiling, loving yet forceful, ambitious and accomplished persons you could ever know. She loved to travel. She demanded excellence. She will be sorely missed by family and friends. She and Jeff maintained homes in Bucks County, Pa., and on Kauai, Hawaii.
She was active for years with charitable events for Fox Chase Cancer Center of Philadelphia. Donations can be made in Mary’s memory to the Fox Chase Cancer Center, 333 Cottman Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19111.
Memorial services will be held privately for immediate family members only.
