“Little Mermaid” swims to Music Mountain stage

Posted
Music Mountain Theatre’s 2019 Theatre for Young Audiences series continues through Aug. 3, with “The Little Mermaid,” an original musical adventure based on the fairy tale classic by Hans Christian Andersen that features 30 young performers from Bucks, Hunterdon, Mercer and Burlington counties.

Young Princess Lorelei (Bella DePaola of Flemington, N.J.) is curious about a life outside the underwater kingdom she calls home. After a violent storm at sea, she rescues beautiful Prince Maxwell (Aidan Rice of West Amwell, N.J.) and instantly falls in love with him.

Lorelei dreams about the life they might have together and sells her soul to the Sea Witch (Kailey Banks of Riverside, N.J.) so she can travel to the surface, but when she learns the prince is to marry another, it may be too late to go back.

The original musical, written and composed by Artistic Director Louis Palena of New Hope, and directed by Tyler McClellan of Doylestown, was commissioned specifically for Music Mountain Theatre and cannot be seen anywhere else.

Shows are Fridays and Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Music Mountain Theatre, 1483 Route 179, Lambertville, N.J. ASL interpreted performances are at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Aug. 3.

Tickets are $8 at the venue, at musicmountaintheatre.org, or at 609-397-3337.
