Lenape Valley Foundation to host Suicide Prevention Conference

Lenape Valley Foundation will host a suicide prevention conference on Monday, Oct. 7.

Least Restrictive Levels of Care for Suicide Prevention will be held in the Life Sciences Building Auditorium at Delaware Valley University located at 700 E. Butler Ave., Doylestown, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The conference is offered in partnership with Delaware Valley University.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Charles T. Browning, chief medical officer of RI International. He has devoted his career to improving the systems and care experience for our mental health needs. He has held leadership positions in public and private systems of care including crisis system care, assertive community treatment team, rural community behavioral health care company and opioid treatment programs.

The day will include afternoon breakout sessions. One of these sessions will feature the viewing of the film, “Here One Day,” presented by the filmmaker Kathy Leichter.

Leichter is an award-winning producer and director of social issue and historical documentaries. She is the founder and president of Mint Leaf Productions and Two Suns Media.

“Here One Day” (Two Suns Media) is an award-winning, feature-length documentary about mental illness and suicide in the filmmaker’s family.

Registration for the conference begins at 8:30 a.m. and the program runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The conference is open to the public, however reservations are required and space is limited. The registration fee is $25 and includes a continental breakfast and lunch.

The program has been approved by the National Association of Social Workers for six continuing education credits.
