Learn how to welcome immigrants in Bucks County

Posted

Welcoming the Stranger, a nonprofit based in Doylestown, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church invite everyone to learn more about immigrants and refugees in the local community from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 15, at St. Mary’s Hall, across from the church, at 235 E. State St., Doylestown.

Welcoming the Stranger Executive Director Patricia Lorenz and volunteer Mike Holland (both immigrants) and their students will help attendees understand their work and what everyone can do to help immigrants and refugees successfully integrate into American life.

Welcoming the Stranger provides free classes in English, computer skills, and citizenship preparation for adult immigrants and refugees in Bucks County and surrounding areas, encouraging connections to community and country.

The free meeting is part of the parish’s commitment to Catholic Social Teaching, which “helps parishioners and neighbors understand how to live well together, as God intends.”
