Lead Free Promise Project launches resource guide

Posted

The Lead Free Promise Project (LFPP) has released its Pennsylvania Toolkit; A Resource Guide on Care Management of a Child with Elevated Blood Lead Levels. This first of its kind resource guide is available to all in Pennsylvania.
The toolkit is a comprehensive guide for health care providers across Pennsylvania to provide information on next steps for essential follow-up care for children who are poisoned by lead and offer resources available across the state. The guide also provides critical guidance on how to: get free home lead inspections with Medicaid and CHIP – and assist families with private coverage too; connect families with low income to the 22 free remediation programs – and how to assist higher-income families who do not qualify; access care management staff at all of the Medicaid and CHIP plans in the state, and access information on local county health departments, Early Intervention Programs and WIC services in all parts of the state.

The resource guide will provide beneficial information to doctors, nurses, other health care providers, and even childcare and social service providers to give poisoned kids the correct services they need in a timely manner.
The resource guide is available on the organization’s webpage LeadFreePA.org to download and disseminate as needed. There is also a QR code on the front of the resource guide so that providers can easily upload the document into their electronic medical records system to easily access the resources they need to manage care for a child poisoned by lead paint.
