Last call to submit for Phillips’ Mill Photographic Exhibition

Posted

New Hope — The submission deadline for the Phillips’ Mill Photographic Exhibition, the area’s most prestigious juried photography show, is Feb. 28. Celebrating its 30th show this year, its theme continues to be, “Photography as Art, Photographer as Artist.”

All work must be submitted online via Smarter Entry by Feb. 28. Up to six images can be submitted and artists are encouraged to submit a “body of work” to best represent their creative expression. Work in any photographic medium, from historic to digital, is eligible. Artists can also request a concise, one-page portfolio review of submitted work for an additional fee. All artists, local to worldwide, are invited to submit their work.

This year’s juror — Jill Enfield — is an internationally renowned fine art photographer, author and educator. Her work can be found on the Phillips’ Mill website at www.phillipsmill.org/photography/photo-exhibition.

Numerous cash prizes will be awarded when the show opens in April, including Best in Show and Best Body of Work. A “People’s Choice” award will be announced when the show closes.

Accepted artists will be announced March 11. Drop off days at the Mill for accepted work will be March 25 and 26. Artists may also ship their work, or, for a very reasonable fee, digital files can be submitted and the Phillips’ Mill Photo Committee will have the work printed and framed.

Photographers interested in joining the Mill Photo Committee and participating in its programs, which includes organizing this stellar show, are welcome. Contact Spencer Saunders, founder of the show and chair of Mill Photo programs, at photo@phillipsmill.org.

The 30th Phillips’ Mill Photo Exhibition will be open from April 2 to April 21 at Phillip’s Mill, 2619 River Road.

In other news from the mill, the second in a series of literary/artistic Salons is set for tonight — Thursday Feb. 16 — from 7 – 8:30 p.m. The theme is storytelling and it will feature a performance or reading following by a chance to mingle.
