Lambertville Food Pantry finds new site

Posted

The Lambertville Food Pantry is planning a move from its current location behind St. John the Evangelist Church to a new site in the CVS Shopping Center on Cherry Street at North Main Street in Lambertville, N.J.

A laundromat was located in the building for many years, at the right end of the strip of stores opposite CVS.

“We are awaiting approval by the City of Lambertville for our plans,” said Joe McGrath, executive director. “Assuming we get that, we will begin the inside renovations required.” The renovations will include creation of office space and installation of shelving. Changes have already been made by local contractor Hugh Marshall and others. The laundry equipment and concrete base have been removed, insulation and flooring have been added and new sheet rock walls have been built. Niece Lumber is providing materials at cost.

“We have changed our name to the Delaware Valley Food Pantry, but we will be performing the exact same function as where we are now,” McGrath said. “We hope that this more public location may bring out new clients who are in need of food.”

The pantry is looking right now for cash donations to pay for the costs of the renovations, are expensive, McGrath said.

If you are interested in donating, make out checks to Delaware Valley Food Pantry and send to P.O. Box 705, Lambertville, N.J. 08530.
