Lambertville author publishes book on Vintage Living

Posted

Lambertville, N.J., resident and author Bob Richter’s second book, “Vintage Living,” was published March 19, and is available at Farley’s Books in New Hope and Sojourner in Lambertville.

Richter will be on hand at Sojourner from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 13, to sign and personalize books purchased at the store. There will be a vintage-inspired tea party to celebrate at the store, located at 26 Bridge St.

Four Lambertville homes, as well as New Hope Mayor Larry Keller’s home and shop, and three Lambertville shops, are featured in the book, making it a true local celebration.

Richter has been “thrifting” and collecting vintage treasures for more than 40 years, since he was 6.

In “Vintage Living,” drawing on his years of experience as a stylist and interior designer, Richter takes readers through a trove of historic homes, illustrating how to live stylishly with vintage finds and collections (hint: buy what you love, express yourself, and don’t be afraid to mix periods).

A celebration of the art of thrifting and decorating with antiques of every era, “Vintage Living” is a full-service guide to treasure hunting, from flea markets, antique shows, and estate sales to country auctions, yard sales and the online marketplace. Richter also imparts hard-won practical tips, such as how best to negotiate and haggle.

The book includes chapters on vintage entertaining and cooking; vintage holiday décor for all seasons; giving vintage gifts; embracing vintage ways; and caring for old treasures, inspiring readers to take a personal and creative approach to their décor.
