Posted

Department of Labor and Industry (L&I) Secretary Jennifer Berrier celebrated the reopening of the Bucks County PA CareerLink® at its new location and promoted the many free career services available to Pennsylvanians, including connecting job seekers with thousands of employers who are hiring across the commonwealth.

“Connecting Pennsylvanians to one-stop-shop career readiness centers like PA CareerLink gives people access to family-sustaining employment, enabling them to succeed in today’s dynamic economy,” Secretary Berrier said. “The improvements to the Bucks County PA CareerLink, its accessibility, and its ability to offer more in-person services and assistance to job seekers are crucial to this region.”

The renovated facility in Trevose offers improved access to public transportation with SEPTA stops and access to I-95, Route 1 and the PA Turnpike nearby. An upgraded computer lab is available for skills assessment and aptitude testing, and modernized meeting rooms will host training programs and workshops, adding more flexibility for services.

“The relocation will undoubtedly advance the critical work of PA CareerLink® in Bucks County,” said Bob Harvie, chair of the Bucks County Board of Commissioners. “Dedicated workforce professionals are available in person to provide comprehensive employment, training and business services that help job seekers and employers get the tools they need for success from a single identifiable source. This increased accessibility coincides with a particularly challenging job market, making such a resource key to economic recovery throughout the county.”

In addition to the ribbon cutting Wednesday, the relocated Bucks County PA CareerLink hosted more than two dozen employers at a multi-industry job fair for people entering the workforce, or for those wanting to advance their careers.

As of August, Bucks County had an unemployment rate of 3.5%, one of the lowest unemployment rates within the commonwealth. According to L&I’s Center for Workforce Information & Analysis, Bucks County industries with the largest number of employees in the first quarter of 2022 were restaurants, elementary and secondary schools, individual and family services, grocery and convenience retailers and general medical/surgical hospitals.

PA CareerLink prepares Pennsylvanians to meet the needs of businesses and matches employers with qualified, skilled candidates. Individuals can register for career and training services, search for job postings and upload a resume to make themselves visible and available to thousands of employers.

Some of the free career-building and other services provided include: resume building/posting/submitting workshops; mock interviews; job search and training assistance; adult education classes and workshops; career fairs; and referral services to partners.
PA CareerLink also has more than 5,000 free unique virtual training modules available through SkillUp® PA to help anyone in the commonwealth gain new skills and advance their careers.
