La Fiocco, Bucks County’s period instrument ensemble, resumes its regular concert series with Bach’s Birthday Bash on March 26 and 27.
A celebration of Johann Sebastian Bach’s 337th birthday, the concert features the composer’s “Brandenburg Concertos 2 and 5,” as well as his “Double Concerto” for oboe, violin, and orchestra.
Works by other baroque composers include Telemann’s concerto for flute, recorder and orchestra and Rittler’s “Ciaccona” for two trumpets and orchestra.
The performers include Eve Friedman, baroque flute, Sarah Davol, baroque oboe, Perry Sutton and Mario Daniel Correa, baroque trumpets, Claire Smith Bermingham, Nadir Aslam, Nathan Bishop, and Linda Louise Kistler, baroque violins, Mark Zaki, baroque viola, Vivian Barton Dozor, baroque cello, Benjamin Rechel, violone, Benjamin T. Berman, harpsichord continuo, and artistic director Lewis R. Baratz, recorder and harpsichord.

“We have decided to pull out all the stops with our gala comeback concert,” said Baratz, who also directs the Chamber Orchestra at Lafayette College. “There is nothing in the entire baroque repertory more glorious than Bach’s ‘Brandenburg Concertos.’ We are so glad to greet our audience again in person, and to bring them this joyous program.”
Performances of Bach’s Birthday Bash will take place at Christ Congregation, 50 Walnut Lane, Princeton, N.J., at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26, and at Trinity Episcopal Church, 6587 Upper York Road, Solebury, at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 27.
Tickets are $25 general admission, $10 students, free for children under 12, at the door (cash or check), and online by credit card at lafiocco.org. Masks and proof of vaccination are required.
