Posted

Kutztown University continued to set new department highs as a school-record 128 Golden Bears earned Division 2 Athletic Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Award status.

The recipients include Annmarie Whalen of Ivyland, Lauren Gudknecht of Churchville, Lynne O’Connor of Southampton, Avery Meiners of Perkasie, Joslyn Stoltz of Levittown and Hannah Reimel of Warminster.

The 128 recipients breaks last year’s previous record of 120. It is the third consecutive year that KU has set a new school record in student-athletes on the list. It is also the fourth straight year that the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) has the largest number of student-athlete honorees with 1,709 total. In total, there were a record breaking 16,639 student-athletes from 169 institutions recognized.

The Academic Achievement Awards, in its 15th year, is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level. In order for a student-athlete to be eligible to receive an Academic Achievement Award, they must: have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have completed a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work and have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his or her last academic year.
