Mooney becomes Tennent’s all-time leading scorer, tallies 28 points in consecutive games

Posted

Kirby Mooney became William Tennent’s all-time leading scorer last Friday night, in the Panthers’ 70-59 win over New Hope-Solebury.

The 6-foot-3 senior had tied the mark – at 1,343 points – with a 24-point performance three days prior in Tennent’s 82-79 agonizing Freedom Division loss to Cheltenham. His free throw in the first quarter of the New Hope-Solebury game gave him sole possession of the record, held by Frank Moultrie ’02.

Mooney scored 28 against NH-S and matched that figure again in Tennent’s next game, a 71-53 win over Council Rock South. The Panthers took a 37-21 lead into halftime against the host Golden Hawks. Mooney’s teammate Tre Stracuzzi added 15.
