Jurors for this year’s Phillips’ Mill Art Exhibition will make selections from the many submissions by talented artists living within a 25-mile radius of historic Phillips’ Mill.
Artists must submit their work by 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, for the 91st annual exhibition, which will be held online this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Complete directions can be found at

The jurors will complete their work by Sept. 2, when the accepted works will be posted online by 9 a.m. at phillipsmill.org.
Every year the show has new judges, giving the show a unique look, always based in the local community.
The jurors are accomplished artists in their own right, often having an academic background. Curators and art historians have also served as jurors, and the Phillips’ Mill Community Association is very proud of the exhibits they design each year.
This year’s painting and graphics judges are: Mark Bockrath, Elsa Mora and Celia Reisman. Sculptor judges are Diane Marimow and Gary Weisman.
Bockrath is a representational landscape and figure painter living and working in West Chester. He works as a paintings conservator in private practice. Bockrath’s work is in numerous corporate, private and public collections.
In addition to landscapes of his native Pennsylvania, Bockrath has painted landscapes of Maine for nearly 30 years. He mostly works in oil or pastel and uses charcoal and silverpoint for portraits and figures.
Mora is an artist and curator, and a recipient of the UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists. Born and raised in Cuba, she resides in upstate New York.
Mora’s art has been exhibited worldwide in art galleries and museums and is in the permanent collections of several museums. She is one of the founding members of ArtYard in Frenchtown, N.J., where she is artistic director and curator.
Reisman’s paintings of residential landscapes reflect an altered view of the world. Her work has been seen in galleries throughout the United States.
Reisman’s work was selected for the American Academy of Arts and Letters Invitational Exhibition, where she received a Hassam, Speicher, Betts, and Symons Purchase Award. In 2000, she had a 15-year Survey Exhibition at the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown.
Marimow is a Philadelphia sculptor, as well as an educator at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. An art teacher for more than 30 years, she has exhibited her ceramic sculptures and wall pieces in galleries around the country.
In 2016, her sculpture was selected and displayed for three months in the International Terminal of the Philadelphia Airport. Her sculptures reside in private collections throughout the United States.
Weisman studied sculpture and drawing in college and his apprentice studies included one with sculptor Evangelos Frudakis. He has had numerous solo shows and is collected and commissioned publicly and privately, in the United States and internationally.
Weisman was honored at the White House for his work at the American Embassies in Bandar Seri Begawan and North Vietnam. He co-teaches and is a student critic in the Certificate/ BFA program at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia.
