Newtown Twp. man charged in stabbing death of father

Posted

Police described a grisly scene last week when they arrived at the home of Gregory A. and Merridith Kurman in Newtown Township after receiving a call for a man in cardiac arrest.
Jordan Matthew Kurman, 22, is charged with criminal homicide and possession of an instrument of crime in the stabbing death of his father, Gregory Kurman, a Philadelphia-area dentist. He’s being held without bail at the Bucks County Correctional Facility.
Jordan Kurman was found outside the house at 15 David Drive in the Walden Square townhome development at about 5 a.m. on April 29. He told police the man who needed medical attention was in the house. As police began to go inside, officials said, they met Merridth Kurman who was screaming for help for her husband. She later told police her son had killed her husband.

Officers found Gregory Kurman on his back on the floor in the living room. Blood was seen on the couch and a large, blood-covered kitchen knife was found by the victim’s head. Kurman had a large, deep cut to his throat. He was pronounced dead at the scene, said authorities.
Returning outside, police said they saw a large amount of blood on Jordan’s clothing and detained him there.
Jordan Kurman told his mother, Merridith Kurman, that he stabbed his father “for 22 years of abuse,” according to a criminal complaint.
