Join Langhorne Council for the Arts Women’s Brigade in parade

Posted

In 2020, Langhorne Council for the Arts, in conjunction with the Langhorne Women’s Centennial Committee, had planned a year’s worth of activities to celebrate the passage of the 19th Amendment, which guaranteed women the right to vote.

Then came the pandemic. Delayed but not deterred, LCA is rescheduling all of the events for 2022.

To kick off this celebration, LCA invites women and girls of all ages to march together in the Langhorne Borough Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 30, starting at 9 a.m. The Women’s Brigade will be issued signs that honor the women from 1860 - 1920 who fought and sacrificed for women’s voting rights.

To join the Women’s Brigade, email LanghorneArtsEvents@gmail.com. Those not able to walk the parade route can ride in an antique Cadillac convertible. Let LCA know of this need in advance.

Other events being scheduled throughout the summer and fall include a Toast to Tenacity and Women’s Mural Dedication in August, a Women’s History Film Festival in September, and a theatrical one-woman performance of a leading light in women’s rights in October.
