John F. McLaughlin

John F. McLaughlin of Hampton, Nj, died on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the VA Medical Center in East Orange, NJ. He was 94 years old.

Known to all as “Jack”, he was born and raised in Philadelphia. After high school, Jack enlisted in the US Army Air Force and was stationed in post war Germany. Returning stateside he enrolled at Temple University to study accounting. His financial management skills led to a 30 year long career as a Controller in the trucking industry. Following his retirement Jack and his partner Jack Houser, owned and operated Jack’s Furniture on Coryell Street in Lambertville.

Jack was dedicated to his family and friends. He enjoyed their time together, loved sing-alongs and summer vacations in Cape May and Cape May Point, NJ. He played the piano, had a beautiful singing voice and favored the classics from the American Song Book. He was a 57 year long member of AA. He was a support, example and mentor for hundreds of people who turned to AA to conquer their addiction. He was always ready to lend an ear to family, friends and those who were struggling. You could not find a better friend than Jack McLaughlin.

Jack was the husband of the late Margaret Carroll McLaughlin, the son of the late Anna Marie and John Aloysius McLaughlin and the brother of the late Robert McLaughlin. Jack and Margaret raised a large and loving family. He is also survived by their children and their spouses Denise McGinn and her husband Jerry of Malvern, PA; Suzanne Murphy and her husband Ed of Philadelphia; Annmarie “Mimi” McCullough and her husband Francis of Bensalem; Michele McLaughlin of Philadelphia, Lisa Corbett of Bensalem and Michael McLaughlin of Philadelphia. Jack is also survived by his longtime companion Jack Houser of Hampton; his sister-in-law Joyce McLaughlin of Yardley; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

The memorial mass was offered on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at St. John The Evangelist Church, 44 Bridge Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530.
