JAMES I. NUNEVILLER, JR.

James I. Nuneviller, Jr. of West Amwell Township, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 80 years old.

Born in Trenton, NJ, Jim was a lifelong resident of the Lambertville area. He was known for his sense of humor and one-liners. Jim was a graduate of Lambertville High School where he played football and baseball. His lifelong connection to community activities began when he marched with the Lambertville Drum and Bugle Corps. Jim was a member of the Odd Fellows, the Masonic Lodge in Lambertville and Stockton, the Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad and the Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church. He and his wife, Janice, were fixtures in the bleachers at South Hunterdon basketball games, always in the same spot cheering the team on. He annually attended Night at the Nest and rarely missed football and field hockey games. Jim supported his grandchildren, in all of their activities including sports, school and theater; he rarely missed an event.

Jim served as a school bus driver for South Hunterdon Regional High School for 15 years, he enjoyed getting to know the kids of the community. Earlier Jim had worked as a foreman at York Luggage, a laborer at Tenneco and at Adams Korn Kurls in Lambertville. As a teenager he worked at Gulick’s Dairy Farm.

Jim was the son of the late James I. Nuneviller and Pauline Ott Nuneviller. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Janice Pierson Nuneviller; his children and their spouses James P. and Kelly Nuneviller of Hillsborough, NC; Jay D. and Stephanie Nuneviller of Middletown, NJ and Julie and Jim Troutman of West Amwell, NJ; his grandchildren Emma, Laura and Amy Nuneviller of Middletown, NJ; Devon Troutman of Longmont, CO; Brett Lelie of Delaware Township, NJ and Andrew Lelie of Allentown, PA; his sister and her husband Brenda and David Wood of Lambertville; and many other family members, relations, friends, neighbors and co-workers.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 31, at 11 am at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530 (vhmfh.com) Interment will follow at the Holcombe-Riverview Cemetery, Delaware Township, NJ.

Calling hours at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9 am until the start of services.
