Internationally known guitarist Michael Nigro performs at St. Philip’s Church

Guitarist Michael Nigro will perform music from Spain and Latin America in “Dances and Impressions of Latin America and Beyond,” as part of the free concert series at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 10 Chapel Road, New Hope (Solebury Township), at 3 p.m. Sunday May 22.

Listeners will be transported to the pampas with compositions by Argentina’s finest composers. They also will hear Venezuelan waltzes and be brought to the coastline of Andalucía, Spain. For the finale, they will return to Argentina to hear José Luis Merlin’s “Suite del Recuerdo.”

Nigro has performed across the United States and abroad, playing concerts in the Philippines, Argentina, Chile and Bulgaria. He has given concerts and master classes for numerous universities, performing arts centers, church concert series, guitar societies, libraries, and museums, including concert tours in Argentina, Chile, France, Bulgaria, Greece, and the Philippines.

His discography includes six CD’s, three solo recordings, two recordings with guitar and flute, and most recently Tucson Guitar Quartet’s debut CD “Latin American Soundscapes.”

Nigro hold a Master of Music degree in Guitar Performance from California State University, Fullerton, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Guitar Performance from Indiana University, Bloomington. He is co-author of “The Essential Classical Guitar Scale Book” and reviewer of new music publications for Soundboard.

Goodwill offerings for the performer and St. Philip’s Church will be accepted.
