International Bicycle Film Festival comes to Doylestown

Posted

Doylestown will be at the center of a very special event later this month when the small borough will host the international Bicycle Film Festival. Cycling legends, including a film featuring Doylestown’s own Chris Baccash, will be featured in film screenings and panel discussions, with proceeds benefiting a study of bike-sharing in the Bucks County community. Starting on April 28, the County Theater will offer two screenings of the Bicycle Film Festival Bucks County Select Short Film Program at 6:15 p.m. and 9 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before show time. On Friday, April 29, Washington Post investigative political reporter Michael Kranish will discuss his book, “The World’s Fastest Man: The Extraordinary Life of Cyclist Major Taylor, America’s First Black Sports Hero,” at the Mercer Museum. In the novel, Kranish tells the story of Taylor, the first Black man who broke racial barriers when he became the world’s fastest and most famous bicyclist at the height of the Jim Crow era in America. Then on Saturday, the County will show an all-ages selection of short films beginning at 10:30 a.m. Doors will open at 10 a.m. All of the events are sponsored by area businesses, including GoPro, Giant Bicycles, Dr. Beth Snyder, DMD, Stuart Wilder, Esq. and Central Bucks Bicycle Club.
