In Jane Austen’s day

Posted

The docents at the Moland House gathered in their garden to welcome guest speaker Elizabeth Steele at their annual Spring Tea Fundraiser on April 24. Steele discussed Jane Austen and provided insight into the situation of ladies in the early 1800s. She shared background stories that were the bases of Austen’s novels. After Steele’s presentation, guests enjoyed tea catered by Our Towne Catering and prepared by William Keucher. From left are: first row, Steele, Nancy Elias; second row, Marijane Meckling, Maddie Seippi, Jean Colella; third row, Robin Burke and Barbara Morris.
