Husband and wife painters show new work at SFA Gallery

Posted
Schmidtberger Fine Art Gallery in Frenchtown, N.J., presents “Interior/Exterior” an exhibition of new paintings by local artists Emily Thompson and George Thompson. The show runs through April 28.

A celebration is planned for the artists from 5 to 7 p.m. opening night, Saturday April 6. The event, at 10 Bridge St., is free and open to the public.

“Interior/Exterior” features a wide range of recent work, such as tonal landscapes, abstractions, interiors and ceramics by George and urban and roadside architecture and signage by Emily. This show celebrates untraditional beauty and “will make the viewer take a second look at things that they may have passed by – and to realize that they are surrounded by beauty even if it’s just a sink, a chair or an old sign.”

Emily and George work together in the same studio, and although they work individually, they influence each other by sharing the same passion for their subject matter. Both are nationally recognized, award-winning artists.

Emily received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts in New York, and George received his Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute.
