Holiday House donation benefits therapy dogs

Posted

Angel on a Leash received a $1,500 donation from Holiday House Pet Resort & Training Center.

The resort’s dog daycare program held its annual Fall Fest Halloween photo fundraiser to benefit the local therapy dog organization.

Pet parents who made a donation for Angel on a Leash had their dog’s photo taken in a Halloween costume as part of the resort’s Fall Fest event. The Halloween costume options included super heroes, popular movie characters, and favorite foods.

Fall Fest was held on Oct. 19. Special activities for the dogs included apple bobbing, a haunted agility tunnel, and a trip to the pumpkin patch to “sniff out” pumpkins decorated by the employees.

The original Angel an a Leash organization – which disbanded in 2016 –was founded in 2004 by David Frei, a breeder, show-dog handler and judge, former announcer for the Westminster Dog Show and currently an announcer for the NBC National Dog Show.

Bob and Steven Kramer, a friend of Frei and a director emeritus also, reestablished the therapy dog organization in 2019. The organization currently has over 90 therapy dog teams serving throughout Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, Lehigh and Luzerne counties as well as areas in New Jersey.

The organization and its therapy teams, known as Champion Therapy Dog Teams, are dedicated to providing comfort and companionship by visiting area schools, senior care facilities, hospitals, and fulfilling other community requests for therapy dog visits. Additionally, the organization provides therapy dog training and certification.
