Youth Fishing Derby

Posted

Doylestown’s youth fishing tradition at the borough dam began ca.1952.
By 1967 the event was being administered by the Doylestown Youth Recreation Council and there were 400-500 girls and boys fishing for trout, sunfish, channel catfish and perch; and youth fishing continued on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer months.
The rules stipulated:
- Ages 6-14

- Central Bucks School District resident
- Limit five fish per visit
In 2022, the Doylestown Borough Fishing Derbies are operated by the borough along with private sponsors. Included are the Youth Fishing Derby (Saturday, April 2) as well as a Seniors, Handicapped Persons and Disabled Veterans Fishing Derby (Saturday, April 30).
