Historical society launches Time Travel Club

Posted

The New Hope Historical Society has announced a new series of Time Travel Club Tours for children that will be presented Saturdays and Sundays at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. during the summer months at the Parry Mansion Museum and garden.
The tours are geared to children under 10 years old. Each child participating in the tours will receive a Parry Passport and will be awarded a stamp (sticker) with each visit. The passport contains a grid with six spaces for stamps. Each child who completes the six tours will receive a Time Traveler’s Award.

Heidi Echternacht, historical society vice president, produced the Time Travel Club Tours. “We wanted to present something unique that will help engage children in the important history of New Hope while creating a really fun experience during the tours,” she said.
Tours will feature a wide variety of historical events and objects. What kind of toys did children play with more than a century ago? What kind of food did families cook in the18th century and how did they prepare it? Participants will hear about historical figures who visited New Hope like General George Washington, and what kind of songs children sang during those times.
