Hicks Gallery on Bucks campus showcases high school artists

The 27th annual High School Art Exhibition at Hicks Art Center Gallery at Bucks County Community College opens March 23, with an awards ceremony and reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 3.
The exhibition and all events are free and open to the public.
High school students living in the PA 1st Congressional District were invited to submit artworks to their art teachers for consideration to be exhibited.
High school art teachers selected their students’ best work for display and for submission to the annual Congressional Art Competition. Competitions such as this are held in every congressional district nationwide each spring.

The first-place winning artwork from this exhibition will be sent to Washington, D.C., where it will represent Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District and be displayed in the corridors of the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol for one year. U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-01)will announce the first-place winner at the awards ceremony on April 3.
Other exhibition awards include: Two-Dimensional Award, Three-Dimensional Award and four Honorable Mention Awards
Jurors for the Congressional Art Competition and Exhibition Awards are Clifford Eberly, Hicks Art Center Gallery exhibitions associate, Susan Hagan, associate professor, fine arts and Dan Wilkinson, associate professor, fine arts.
The exhibition continues through April 6, at Hicks Art Center Gallery and is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 26 and 27, and Saturday, April 2. Weekday gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
