Hicks Gallery hosts artists talks

Posted

In conjunction with the exhibition, Wonders Illustrated, Hicks Art Center Gallery at Bucks County Community College in Newtown will host artist talks on Wednesdays and Thursdays for three weeks starting next week.

Talks begin with illustrator and author Charles Beyl, online 5 to 6 p.m. June 8, and artist Alina Chau, online 5 to 6 p.m. June 9, followed an artist book signing and presentation by illustrator and artist Deb Hoeffner from 1 to 3 p.m. on the campus in Newtown June 11.

Hoeffner will discuss her process and sign her latest book, “Trucker: The True Story of a Hero Colt.” The event is free and open to the public and will be hosted at the Hicks Art Center Gallery. Refreshments will be served.

The book, written by Cristina Scalise and illustrated by Hoeffner, tells the inspiring true story of how one scrawny little colt saved an entire herd of 33 starving horses. Scalise is a volunteer at the Equine Rescue League, where the rescue occurred. Hoeffner will tell the story behind the story and share the process of bringing this little hero and his family of Morgan horses to life on the page.

Talks and special presentations continue online from 5 to 6 p.m. June 15 with illustrator and author James Yang; online from 5 to 6 p.m. June 16 with the award-winning author and illustrator Duncan Tonatiuh; and online from 5 to 6 p.m. June 22 with illustrator and author David Curtis.
