Habitat volunteers build walls during Faith Build

Posted

More than 100 volunteers, both young and old, took part in the recent Faith Build event, working together to build the walls of a Habitat for Humanity home for a local family.

Woodside Church sponsored Help Build Hope’s hands-on house-building opportunity where volunteers from numerous faiths constructed walls for this Habitat home in Woodside Church’s parking lot.

The walls were then transported to Morrisville, where they will become the home of Damian, Joanne and their two young sons. The family currently shares a small, two-bedroom apartment above a meat shop in Northeast Philadelphia.

Not only is the apartment cramped, but the boys have to sleep with their parents to avoid the heavy smoke coming into their apartment from their neighbors. The family is looking forward to living in a healthier space.

Since 1990, Habitat Bucks has partnered with 115 households in Bucks County for homeownership. Revenue from Habitat ReStores provides funding for the construction and repair of homes.
