Gunman arrested in Doylestown standoff

Numerous Central Bucks-area police departments responded Thursday afternoon to a shooting incident at a residence in the Belmont Square section of Doylestown Borough.

Officers from the Central Bucks Regional Police Department arrived on scene at 51 Belmont Square at 3:46 p.m. to the sound of continued gunfire inside the home.

All nearby residents were quickly evacuated to ensure the safety of the community as officers locked down the scene. A standoff situation ensued during which numerous shots were fired from inside the residence.

The standoff ended at 5:38 p.m. when a 21-year-old male, who resides at the home, surrendered and was taken into custody. Charging information will be forthcoming.

Investigators continued to process the scene throughout the night.
