Greater BucksMont Chamber raises $550 for area food pantry

Posted

The Greater BucksMont Chamber of Commerce announced that its “Dash In and Dine At Home” event raised $550 in support of the food pantry at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hatboro.

As a result of the generosity of Greater BucksMont Chamber of Commerce members, funds were raised to purchase 22 gift cards of $25 each for the Grocery Outlet in Warminster. Grocery Outlet is also a chamber member and the store donated an extra gift card to the cause.

The St. John’s food pantry will give out the gift cards, along with food donations, as a way to help those experiencing food insecurity this season.

Despite the economic impact of the pandemic on so many individuals and businesses in the community, the response to the fundraiser was overwhelming. For a $25 donation, participants received a chef-prepared lasagna dinner for two, accompanied by a fresh garden salad, garlic bread and cannoli for dessert – all of which could be enjoyed at home.

Commonwealth Senior Living Willow Grove donated all of the food, which was prepared by its chef, Tom. Compassionate Care Hospice provided popcorn, Fox Rehabilitation provided the movie “Elf,” and BrightStar Care of Lower Bucks and SE Montgomery County donated wine.

“Ray Ruth, vice president of the Greater BucksMont Chamber of Commerce and I had the distinct honor of meeting up with Santa and we were able to personally hand him the gift cards on behalf of The Greater BucksMont Chamber of Commerce,” said Judy Doherty, executive director, Greater BucksMont Chamber of Commerce.

“Our community didn’t let the coronavirus stop us from helping our neighbors during this difficult time. We are very grateful to those who participated to make this event a huge success.”

Alan Eickhoff, pantry leadership team member, St. John’s Church Food Pantry, remarked, “We truly appreciated the efforts of all who supported the Greater BucksMont Chamber of Commerce fundraising event. Many local families will have a much happier holiday season due to their generosity.”
