All are welcome to attend the grand opening of Milford, N.J’s Village Pantry, with a community pot luck luncheon, beginning at noon Sunday, March 31, at the Presbyterian Church of Milford, 70 Bridge St., Milford, N.J.
In addition to bringing a covered dish, attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable item for the food pantry.
The most sought after items at this time are beef stew, canned chicken, spaghetti and sauce, boxed meals (macaroni and cheese, hamburger helper), toiletries (razors, shaving cream, feminine hygiene products, shampoo and soap), paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, napkins) and dish/laundry detergent.
The mission of the pantry is to provide food for the hungry or food insecure regardless of residence, race, color, religion, national origin, sex or any other protected class according to the state and federal laws.
The new pantry is not competing with any other pantries in the area; rather it is supplementing those food pantries on different days and times. None is currently open in the evening or on Sunday.
The pantry expects to be open from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, as needed or by appointment. Days of the week and times may change, depending on the needs of the community.
The pantry’s not-for-profit status enables it to use NORWESCAP as a food resource in addition to its monthly food collections and food drives by the scouts, the softball game, etc.
The Village Pantry at PCOM supports Strike Out Hunger NJ, a benefit softball tournament to help raise awareness and collect non-perishable items for a community in need. Save the date: Saturday, May 4; visit
